Auriga Research,Bangalore has installed a new ICP-MS (Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), a quadrupole mass spectrometer that works by setting voltages and radio frequencies to allow ions of a given mass-to-charge ratio to remain stable within the rods and pass through to the detector.
ICP Analysis, also called ICP Testing, is performed to identify and measure a range of chemical elements necessary for the analysis of metal samples. Auriga offered ICP-MS Analysis services to be performed on solid or liquid samples can determine up to 85 multiple elements in a sample in the time limit of 2-3 minutes using the latest technology in spectrometers is much faster than AAS and granite furnace AAS. The detection limits are at or below parts per trillion (ppt) range are achievable with ICP-MS . In addition, ICP analysis can reveal several non-metals that can be included in an ICP test report with the most powerful interference removal for the best detection limits.
Key Features of ICP-MS
- NexION® 2000 ICP Mass Spectrometer by Perkin Elmer has LumiCoil™ Technology, Triple Cone Interface and Quadrupole Ion Deflector which completely eliminates interferences thus providing ultra-trace detection capabilities even in difficult matrices such as waste waters, soils, sea water and clinical samples.
- Easily and confidently remove interferences with second-generation Universal Cell Technology™, featuring three modes of operation i.e. Standard, collision and reaction and three gas channels targeted highly efficient interference removal, running pure ammonia and other reactive gases for unsurpassed flexibility and performance.
- Capable of handling any sample matrix and addressing any and all interferences can be configured to provide the best results for any application.
- Auriga has the facility for analysis of wide ranging samples such as Ayurvedic products, foods and natural products such as milk, honey, drugs and drinking water.
The following performance can be measured under a single set of optimized conditions for each mode.
Detection Limits
Based on three times the standard deviation of the blank using three-second integration time and peak hopping at 1-point per mass.
Element | Detection Limits ng/L (ppt) |
---|---|
Be | < 0.5 |
Fe | < 1.5 (Reaction mode, with ammonia) |
Co | < 0.5 |
In | < 0.25 |
U | < 0.25 |
