Standardized Milk Fortified Testing

Fortified standardized milk is a blend of milk from two or more species, such as cow, buffalo, goat, or camel, that has been enriched with essential micronutrients, primarily Vitamin A and Vitamin D, in line with the standards prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Fortified standardized milk combines the nutritional strengths of different milk types, offering a balanced profile of proteins, fats, and minerals. Fortification further enhances its public health value by addressing widespread vitamin deficiencies, especially in children, pregnant women, and nutritionally at-risk populations.

FSSAI-Prescribed Fortification Levels:

• Vitamin A: 270–450 µg RE (Retinol Equivalent) per liter

• Vitamin D: 5–7.5 µg per liter

Only safe, stable, and bioavailable forms of vitamins are used, ensuring the nutrients remain effective throughout processing and shelf life. The fortification process does not affect the taste or appearance of the milk.

All fortified standardized milk products must display the official +F logo on the packaging, certifying compliance with FSSAI’s food fortification guidelines.
