Description

Sheep milk, as recognized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), is a rich, nutrient-dense dairy product obtained from healthy sheep. Though less commonly consumed in India, it is highly valued for its exceptional nutritional profile, containing significantly higher levels of fat, protein, calcium, and essential vitamins compared to cow or goat milk. As per FSSAI regulations, sheep milk must meet a minimum standard of 6.0% milk fat and 9.0% solids-not-fat (SNF).

Sheep milk is naturally rich in vitamin B12, riboflavin, zinc, phosphorus, and short- to medium-chain fatty acids, making it especially suitable for cheese-making, probiotic yogurt, and premium dairy formulations. It is also easier to digest for some individuals due to its smaller fat globules and unique protein structure.
