Description
Oxidation Hair Dyes – Type-1, as specified under IS 8481:2020, refer to hair dye developer products, which are used in combination with dye bases (Types 2 and 3) to initiate the oxidative coloring process. These developers are generally aqueous solutions or emulsions of hydrogen peroxide or other oxidizing agents, provided in liquid, gel, or cream form.
They do not contain any coloring matter themselves but are essential for activating color precursors present in other hair dye formulations. These are typically:
-
Hydrogen peroxide-based solutions (usually 6% or 9% w/v)
-
Stabilized with buffers and emulsifiers
-
Fragrance-free or mildly fragranced
-
Creamy or watery, depending on the intended usage with dye base
The product should be:
-
Chemically stable and safe for use on scalp and hair
-
Easy to mix with colorant bases
