Testing Scope
UHT Fortified Goat Milk is goat milk that has undergone ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing and is enriched with essential micronutrients—Vitamin A and Vitamin D—in full compliance with the guidelines established by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Goat milk is naturally rich in calcium, medium-chain fatty acids, and easily digestible proteins, making it an excellent alternative for individuals with lactose sensitivity or cow milk allergies. UHT processing involves heating the milk to at least 135°C for a few seconds, which kills all harmful microorganisms and extends the product’s shelf life to several months without refrigeration (until opened).
FSSAI Fortification Requirements:
Vitamin A: 270–450 µg RE (Retinol Equivalent) per liter
Vitamin D: 5–7.5 µg per liter
Fortification is carried out using bioavailable and heat-stable forms of the vitamins to ensure they remain effective even after UHT treatment and over long storage periods.
Key Benefits:
Long shelf life and convenient storage
Nutritionally enhanced with added vitamins for bone health, immunity, and vision
Suitable for children, the elderly, and those with dietary sensitivities
UHT fortified goat milk must also carry the +F logo on its packaging, signifying its compliance with FSSAI’s food fortification regulations.
With its combination of digestibility, nutrient density, and extended shelf life, UHT fortified goat milk is a premium, health-forward dairy option ideal for modern consumers and institutional nutrition programs.
Why It Matters
Verification of Fortified Nutrient LevelsTo confirm the presence of Vitamin A (270–450 µg RE/L) and Vitamin D (5–7.5 µg/L) within FSSAI-specified limits, ensuring the product delivers intended health benefits.
Stability of Micronutrients Post-UHT ProcessingTo ensure that the added vitamins remain stable and effective despite exposure to high heat during ultra-high temperature (UHT) treatment.
Uniform Distribution of NutrientsTo verify that micronutrients are evenly mixed throughout the milk, ensuring consistent intake with each serving.
Microbiological Safety and SterilityTo ensure complete microbial inactivation, confirming that no harmful bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli) survive UHT processing, thereby achieving commercial sterility.
Compliance with Goat Milk Composition StandardsTo validate the milk meets FSSAI’s benchmarks for fat content, solids-not-fat (SNF), and overall quality specific to goat milk.
Packaging Integrity and Label AccuracyTo ensure the product is packed in aseptic, tamper-proof packaging and correctly labeled with the +F logo, vitamin declarations, and storage instructions, as per FSSAI norms.
Suitability for Extended Shelf Life and Public UseTo confirm the product’s safety, efficacy, and stability for use in nutritional programs, travel, and regions with limited refrigeration.
