Description

UHT Fortified Camel Milk is camel milk that has been treated using ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing and enriched with essential micronutrients—Vitamin A and Vitamin D—in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines. This product offers a powerful combination of camel milk’s natural therapeutic benefits and enhanced nutritional value, with the added convenience of long shelf life.

Camel milk is known for its naturally high content of immunoglobulins, insulin-like proteins, iron, and vitamin C, and is often well-tolerated by people with lactose intolerance or cow milk allergies. The UHT process involves rapidly heating the milk to 135°C for 2–5 seconds, which eliminates all harmful microorganisms and ensures shelf stability for several months without refrigeration (until opened).

FSSAI Fortification Requirements:

  • Vitamin A: 270–450 µg RE (Retinol Equivalent) per liter

  • Vitamin D: 5–7.5 µg per liter

These vitamins are added in bioavailable, heat-stable forms to withstand UHT processing and maintain their efficacy throughout the product’s shelf life.

Key Benefits:

  • Extended shelf life without refrigeration

  • Nutritionally enhanced with added bone-, immunity-, and vision-supporting vitamins

  • Ideal for health-conscious consumers, therapeutic diets, and nutrition programs

Packaging must carry the +F logo, indicating compliance with FSSAI’s food fortification standards.

With its unique natural composition, added vitamins, and long-lasting freshness, UHT Fortified Camel Milk is a premium dairy product that meets the evolving nutritional and lifestyle needs of modern consumers.

Purpose of Testing

Purpose of Testing for UHT Fortified Camel Milk – As per FSSAI Guidelines

Testing of UHT Fortified Camel Milk is essential to ensure it complies with the nutritional, safety, compositional, and labeling standards outlined by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The key objectives of testing include:

  • Verification of Fortification Levels
To ensure that Vitamin A (270–450 µg RE/L) and Vitamin D (5–7.5 µg/L) are added within the FSSAI-prescribed limits, delivering the intended health benefits to consumers.

  • Stability of Nutrients Post-UHT Processing
To confirm that the fortified vitamins are heat-stable and retain their potency after being subjected to ultra-high temperature (UHT) treatment.

  • Uniform Distribution of Micronutrients
To validate that the added vitamins are evenly dispersed throughout the product for consistent nutritional value in every serving.

  • Microbiological Safety and Sterility
To ensure the UHT process has successfully eliminated all pathogenic microorganisms (e.g., E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria), making the product commercially sterile and safe for long-term storage.

  • Compliance with Camel Milk Composition Standards
To assess whether the product meets expected values for fat content, SNF (solids-not-fat), and other camel milk-specific parameters.

  • Packaging and Labeling Compliance
To verify that the product is packed in aseptic, tamper-evident packaging and displays the +F logo, nutrient claims, batch details, and usage instructions as per FSSAI labeling norms.

  • Suitability for Public Distribution and Health Programs
To confirm that UHT fortified camel milk is a safe, shelf-stable, and nutritionally adequate product for use in public health initiatives, clinical nutrition, and markets with limited cold-chain infrastructure.
