Description

UHT Fortified Buffalo Milk is high-fat buffalo milk that has been both ultra-high temperature (UHT) processed and enriched with vital micronutrients—Vitamin A and Vitamin D—in strict compliance with the guidelines issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Buffalo milk is naturally rich in fat, calcium, and protein, making it highly nutritious and energy-dense. The UHT treatment involves rapidly heating the milk to at least 135°C for a few seconds, effectively eliminating all harmful microorganisms and ensuring an extended shelf life of 6–9 months without refrigeration (until opened).

FSSAI Fortification Norms:

  • Vitamin A: 270–450 µg RE (Retinol Equivalent) per liter

  • Vitamin D: 5–7.5 µg per liter

Fortification is done using heat-stable, bioavailable forms of the vitamins to maintain their effectiveness throughout the UHT process and storage duration.

Key Features:

  • Long shelf life with no refrigeration needed until opened

  • Rich and creamy texture with added health benefits

  • Ideal for urban households, institutional use, and nutritional programs

All UHT fortified buffalo milk must display the +F logo, indicating that it complies with FSSAI’s food fortification standards.

With its blend of high natural nutrition, added vitamins, and extended shelf stability, UHT fortified buffalo milk is a convenient, nourishing, and reliable dairy option for daily consumption.

Purpose of Testing

Purpose of Testing for UHT Fortified Buffalo Milk – As per FSSAI Guidelines

Testing of UHT Fortified Buffalo Milk is essential to ensure it meets the nutritional, safety, compositional, and regulatory standards defined by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The key purposes include:

  • Verification of Fortification Levels
To confirm that Vitamin A (270–450 µg RE/L) and Vitamin D (5–7.5 µg/L) are present in the required amounts as per FSSAI fortification standards.

  • Nutrient Stability After UHT Processing
To ensure that added micronutrients remain biologically effective and stable after undergoing ultra-high temperature treatment.

  •  Uniform Distribution of Nutrients
To verify that vitamins are evenly mixed throughout the milk and maintain consistency during packaging and shelf life.

  •  Microbiological Safety and Sterility Assurance
To test for complete microbial inactivation, ensuring no survival of pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, or E. coli, thereby confirming commercial sterility.

  •  Compliance with Buffalo Milk Composition
To confirm the product meets standard requirements for minimum fat content (6.0%) and solids-not-fat (SNF 9.0%), as specified for buffalo milk.

  •  Packaging Integrity and Labeling Accuracy
To ensure packaging is aseptic and tamper-proof, and labeling includes the +F logo, fortification details, batch number, and storage instructions by FSSAI rules.

  •  Suitability for Long Shelf Life and Public Distribution
To validate that the product remains safe and nutritionally reliable for long periods, especially in areas without refrigeration or for government nutrition programs.
