Eat Right Initiatives

Eat Right India includes a wide range of initiatives and programs in addition to the regulatory responsibilities of FSSAI mandated by the Food Safety and Standards (FSS), Act 2006, such as setting science-based, internationally comparable standards for food and ensuring reliable food testing and compliance to these standards through surveillance and enforcement activities.

Eat Right Campus

In order to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all citizens wherever they are, Eat Right India has taken a ‘settings-based’ approach, with specific programs for workplaces, schools, eating out etc. As a part of Eat Right India, the Eat Right Campus initiative has been launched for colleges, universities, institutions, workplaces, hospitals, jails and tea estates to support them to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for the people who spend the majority of their time in these campuses.

Although it is not required to adopt the Eat Right Campus initiative, it can have significant economic and health benefits for the campus and its inhabitants. The prevalence of food borne infections, deficiency diseases, and non-communicable diseases among campus residents would decrease with the availability of safe, healthful, and sustainable food. As a result, there will be less absenteeism and time lost from work, and individuals will be happier, more motivated, and more productive.

Additionally, this would lessen the financial burden of healthcare expenses on businesses, institutions, hospitals, prisons, and tea estates. All of these elements would ultimately improve the campus’s economy. Additionally, the campus’ reputation and brand value would improve as an Eat Right Campus, increasing its appeal to potential students, staff, and other visitors. Last but not least, this would encourage other campuses to support the production of safe, wholesome, and sustainable food, which would benefit the nation as a whole.

Our Programs

In order to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all citizens wherever they are, Eat Right India has taken a ‘settings-based’ approach, with specific programs for workplaces, schools, eating out etc. As a part of Eat Right India, the Eat Right Campus initiative has been launched for colleges, universities, institutions, workplaces, hospitals, jails and tea estates to support them to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for the people who spend the majority of their time in these campuses.

Cluster certification is a part of the “Eat Right” initiative, which aims to promote safe and healthy food practices in various establishments. The initiative is led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to ensure the availability of hygienic and nutritious food options for consumers. In the context of the “Eat Right” initiative, the mentioned establishments would fall under different categories such as Clean Street Food Hub, Clean and Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Market, BHOG – Blissful Hygienic Offering to god (Place of Worship), Eat Right Station

Places of Worship (PoW) are a very important part of Indian society and food served in these places is regarded as pure and sacred. BHOG (Blissful Hygienic Offering to God) is a part of the Eat Right initiative to encourage PoW to adopt and maintain food safety and hygiene while preparing prasad/food and includes training the food handlers and vendors in and around the premises of the PoW. Implementation of BHOG would help to ensure that safe and wholesome prasad is received by the devotees along with the blessings of God.
