Dr.Saurabh Arora presented a poster at the AOAC’s Annual Meeting at the Celebrity Ballroom at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, Nevada, the USA on 1st October 2012.
The topic of the research work was Method for the Detection of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) Contamination in Honey.
It included both written and pictorial summary of the research and was co-authored by Nidhi Gupta, Neha S Arora, and SumanKarayat.
Genetically modified food is constantly entering the food’s), must be labeled as such.
At Arbro Pharmaceuticals limited, we have worked to develop a test which enables DNA to be extracted from any pollen in the honey and tested for GM content. We use a DNA based technique, the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to determine the presence or absence of specific genes found in GMOs such as Roundup Ready Soya. This is a qualitative test with a detection limit of 0.1%. The presentation provided an opportunity to meet and interact with the various attendees with technical information on science-based research and advanced methodology.
AOAC’s Annual Meeting and Exposition were held at the Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, Nevada, the USA from September 30 to October 3, 2012. The aim of this meeting was to Educate, Network and Collaborate with many scientists worldwide with a broad spectrum of interactions between industry, government, and academia.
